well im just beginning year 12 work now and well im doing 13 units atm:

English Adv
Software Design
Visual Art
Maths Gen
Business Studies
*tafe 3 unit Retail operations*

Well i get about halfway in each of these class's except English where i am doing pretty bad it seems Coming 39-40 people.
My teacher tells me that i probably should consider dropping down to standard to do better.
I might contribute this to laziness on my part which im going to change this year but i have to decide if i should go down to standard or stay in Adv.
Like my teacher told me if i was in standard i would have come 6th out of 60people in standard so...
Im not sure if i should stick with it or not, i guess i am having a bit of trouble with adv but considering how my brother did the 2003 test and did pretty decent in standard with a upper 70's and as such with his subjects and did pretty bad...
I dont know any help would be appreciated as i am highly confused and have like a week to decide what im doing... Oh well...

My marks tend to be in the low 70's and well i have to work much harder this year to get them up, minus English eh... which i got 55 in...
But i am middle in most of my classes..
Any predictions on what these courses and rough marks could go in my Hsc if i am going to work hard for my hsc..

I have no idea what the Ranking of Gymea Technology Highschool is though we did get a recent visit by the Bob car fellow so i assume its decent if he is recommending it as a good Public school.

Thanks for the read.

What sort of an UAI/course are you looking to get into? Atm with those subjects, what I assume isn't the best ranked school (you won't find 60 people doing standard English in a top ranking school), and most importantly laziness, you're looking at an UAI in the 60s, which'd get you into a couple of things in UWS. Asking yourself what you want to do in uni is something important you have to do right now, because you need a target to set for yourself to work towards get fired up about. That's something far more important to think about than what subjects you should do.

Now for English.. on the one hand advanced English is the only decently scaled subject you're doing, but on the other if you're really struggling to come to terms with it, it's probably a liability than an asset. It all depends on what you want to do and what you're willing to do to get it I suppose. I reckon with lots of hard work + maybe some tutoring you can make Advanced work for you, but based on what you've done so far, your teacher might be right. .
