What is the human condition ??? I'm a little bit confused :/ I've heard this term but not quite understanding it.

You could greatly refer the word to the emotions we feel, love, hate, jealousy, greed, ambition... Basically most texts have something to say about these things and thus help explain the human condition.

Another interpretation is that we are bound by the confines of being mortal and fear death so that is our condition.

To be more honest, it's a cliched term that students overuse without understanding it because it sounds nice and they think it will help their marks.

I'd steer clear of using it - it doesn't generally add anything; talk more specifically about specific values/traits/emotions the author is showcasing.
