Hi,

We just did hypothesis testing but I was wondering if anyone could help me with one thing I don't get (I would have asked in my tute but Ive been away this week).

When youre given the level of significance, I was just wondering how you find what they equal:

eg. a = 0.05 is 1.645 or a = 0.1 is 1.28

Thanks heaps to anyone that can help

if a = 0.05, 1-a = 0.45 (assuming youre using the provided table which only deals with half the normal distribution). Look on the normal distribution table to find 0<z<Z = 0.45 and you should see that its 1.645 (its actually between 1.64 and 1.65 but you average it out for a more accurate z value).
