Every single time I look at a question, I would think of a solution within a few seconds. That's not a problem if it was the most complicated solution to get to the answer.

Like I would get a question that asks for the area of a quadrilateral on a graph, and we are given each point. I would then proceed to do a lot of integration because for some reason 'area under a line' sounds fine to me. I would do two integrations for the area under the line, then proceed to add them, unnecessarily taking a whole page.

Does this happen to anybody else?

Usually the amount of marks depends on the length of the working out. So if its 1 mark and you do more than 4 lines you may not be doing what the question's most efficient method is.

Well, the quadrilateral one was three marks. However it literally just says "Find the area of the quadrilateral OCEB", and the most efficient answer I realized was not even 5 lines of simple '1/2 x b x h'. (Compared to almost a whole page of integration.)
