i have an assessment task due in about month,
i have to "design an electromagnet to lift a specific weight and ..................etc."

any suggestions on what to do? (simple please)

an electromagent is basicly a piece of steel with a coil around it.

ummm...to put it nice n simply..get a decent size chunk of iron and wind lots and lots of turns of wire around it

try getting it laminated, ie. getting it sliced into as many pieces and glue them back together, reducing eddy currents

i agree with snoopwogg - just look at ways of improving motors and usually they talk about how you can improve the magnect being used
