I just had an idea for a resource, although I don't know if it'll be useful

Sometimes when I do papers I don't know if I'm doing good or bad because I have no clue whether it's hard or not

So hear me out:
  • A spreadsheet of some kind with columns of every single paper (primarily HSC papers)
  • Each person (anonymously) has a row and they fill in what they got for those specific papers (and their final HSC mark if available)
This would enable comparison, e.g. in the following example:
  • Person A does the NSB 2022 Ext 1 Math paper and gets 60%, they find it quite difficult and so they check this resource
  • Person B also did the paper and got 65%, as well as getting 80% on the 2024 HSC paper
  • Therefore Person A can roughly know that they should be getting 75% on the 2024 HSC paper in order to keep at their current standard
  • Person C did the same NSB paper and got 55%, and ended up with an HSC mark of 42/50
  • Person A knows that they should be aiming above that HSC mark
It may take a lot of effort to put together but I've had this idea in my head for a while, it would mainly be useful for maths and science (anything that is more black-and-white), and at least for students like me I think it would be really useful

Anyways if anybody is interested leave a reply!

Lowkey I would make that and sell it. But I would need someone to help me with the ranking of the difficulties of the paper and the mark stuff

Could be your DT project /j

Honestly though, all it would need is a spreadsheet and patience (read: enough people for upkeep), and somewhere to submit marks (or it could be free for all, though that would be open to vandalism)
A sheet for each subject, and then columns for each paper + HSC mark (could be colour coded in terms of predicted and actual), and then rows for each individual
Every person would have to be given a designated number/they could use their BoS username in order to collate all the data
In terms of difficulty ranking I'm sure spreadsheets can be organised by number, if somebody is bothered they could average every single paper and then work the score with that, or even just colour code them red or green according to their relative difficulty compared to the HSC papers (which will be the measuring stick)

It could work in tandem with THSC

Omg I would def do that if I can earn money or even for fun . Unfortunately I don’t think that would really work for DT cause that’s more like an enterprise task or smth. But I would totally do it in the holidays. I’ll def think about it

Wait u know how people always ask for atar predictions. Why don’t we create an app or website that does this based on ranks, number of b 6’s, etc. cause the atar calculators are just for scaled marks right? Cause then why do people ask for atar predictions when they can use the calculator

Might be the motivation I need to get started on some past papers
Are you planning to do this now or after the hsc?
