What's the deal with it? Is it a good idea to join now (free student membership)?

They haven't told us much about it at uni, except

"You're all members, right?"

*stunned silence*

"Good"

it doesn't really make much difference because it expires in a year and really, the only cool thing that my friend got was a card.

they're good to contact if you want to touch base with companies for industrial training. they give me a list of heaps companies which employ students.

and i also have a space for memberships on my resume and put IEAust on it cause it fills up space :D

they issue a new card each year :)

IEAust, becomes more benefical as you near graduation -- they organise seminars etc etc..and you get free online access to their magazine -- which can come in handy for assignments.
and yeah.. as laney said...
it makes good use in your resume :p
