(a) You are provided with a slide of a transerve section (TS) of a leaf. Focus the slide on your microscope under high power and draw a clear diagram of three xylem cells. Label you diagram. (10 marks)

(b) Justify why a microscope and transverse section of a leaf were required in this experiment. (75 words, 3 marks)

(c) Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of this experiment and suggest ways it could be improved. (125 words, 3 marks)

(d) Write a conclusion and assess the validity of the experimental procedure. (100 words, 3 marks)

I need help with all parts, especially parts b, c and d.

b. Why do you think a transverse section of a leaf is required in the experiment? What is the aim of the experiment? The aim is to identify and draw the components of the xylem and phloem, right?
What advantage does a transverse section of the leaf give you compared with other sections?

c. How accurate do you think this experiment is? Obviously there will be some error - you cannot draw the components exactly as is, unless you're an amazing artist. Is the drawing to scale?
What about the quality of the cross section? Was it a good quality cross section? What type of leaf was it? Is this type of leaf indicative of the structure of the xylem and phloem in all leaves?
A good experiment can be replicated; can this experiment be replicated?

d. What is your conclusion? What did you find when you looked at the cross section? A lot of your conclusion will come from points a and c. Describe what you saw, did you see the xylem cells? Could you label them correctly? How reliable was the experiment, what can you do next time to improve it, etc.

It's not hard dude.
