Looking at the picture, what did I do wrong? Everything seems fine to me but the answer isn't 1/2, it's 0. I got a feeling that the way I factorised the question was wrong but everything else seems fine, what did I do wrong?

2nd line is already wrong... its x-2+1/x^2. Why did you try to factorise it?

I factorised it to get rid of the denominator, by taking out x^2 in the numerator, I can cancel it out with the denominator. How is 2nd line wrong?

how did you take x^2 as the numerator if its x^3-2x^2+1? x^3-2x^2+1 / x^2 = x-2+x^-2

See I didn't factorise the whole numerator, I factorised x^3 -2x^2, is that what I did wrong? Am I meant to factorise the whole numerator?

What year are you currently in? It's just simple fractions... x^3/ x^2 then 2x^2/ x^2 then 1/x^2.

I get what you're trying to say in the last thing you said but what I don't get is that the way I factorised half of the numerator, is that the right or I'm meant to factorise the whole numerator?

It's not wrong, but i don't get why you would do it. It's just wasting an additional line of writing.

I just did it to get rid of the denominator, and it worked, but why wasn't the answer 0 at the end? I got 1/2?

The answer is 1/2

(2-2) - (0.5 - 1 )
=
0- (-0.5)
= 0.5

Sometimes you confuse yourself if you skip lines of working out
