(x-1)/(1+x^2) = x/(1+x^2) - 1/(1+x^2)

split the numerator ... then u have two functions, the first bit = 0.5 ln (x^2 +1) , and second bit = tan ^-1 x

(after integration of course)

so answer is 0.5 ln (x^2 +1) - tan ^-1 x + C
