I need to get this cleared up.

Let's say, internally, student A is ranked 1st and student B is ranked 2nd.
However, in the HSC exams, student B get's the top mark while student A get's 2nd.

What happens?

Does student B get student A's internal mark and their own HSC mark? Or, as what I've been hearing, that student A get's student B's HSC mark?

Sorry if it's been asked before but I read through a few threads prior to posting this thread and found no answer.

Student A will get Student B's exam mark as their internal mark and keep their own external mark. These two marks are then average to get the final HSC mark out of 100.

Student B will keep their own external mark and then get a moderated internal mark based on the gap between them and Student A and the rest of the gaps and marks earned by the rest of the class. Again these marks are addd together and divided by 2 to get their HSC mark.

Student B will not necessarily get Student A's external mark as their internal mark as that mark may not keep the gap between the two correct.
