Internal marks don't count and cannot be used as an accurate gauge to your final atar.

I would like the point some things out:
1. Your internal marks are ONLY used to sort the rankings within your cohort.
2. This ranking will give you your internal mark, which is makes up 50% of your final HSC mark, the other 50% is the mark you get in the actual HSC exam on the day.
3. These HSC marks are then scaled accordingly to give your ATAR.

You ask if 80-90% will be enough to get you an ATAR over 90 but that is impossible to tell. You cannot, I repeat, cannot, go from raw school percentage to ATAR without more information. The process would be more like the following:

1. Raw school percentage
2. Raw HSC exam mark - you haven't sat the HSC yet
3. Moderated assessment mark - this depends on how well others in your cohort went, and the HSC exam marks
4. Raw HSC mark - depends on the raw HSC exam mark and moderated assessment mark
5. Scaled HSC mark - depends on how others in the state went
6. Aggregate - depends on the combination of your best 10 units of scaled HSC marks
7. ATAR - depends on the aggregate and is a rank compared to your Year 7 cohort

You only have information for step 1.

Needless to say, your school marks are relative to your school assessments. What is more important is your moderated assessment mark, which is a mark relative to the state. That is dependent on how well you and your cohort performs in the HSC exams. Yes, you should still attempt to gain as many marks as possible in school and be as close as possible to the highest mark in school. This determines how well you will be moderated relative to your peers. But I repeat, most importantly, you and your school must do well in the HSC exams.

It is too difficult to give you an accurate answer to your question since some schools marks extremely easy and others extremely hard, if your school's marking standards are not EXACTLY aligned to the official HSC standard, it is extremely difficult to give you an accurate indication. However, what you can do is use your internal rank for guidance, ask the teacher or search online for the approximate percentage of students from your school that got a band 6 from previous years and average it out to get a more realistic percentage, and aim to be in that top percentage for all of your courses to maximise yourself for a 90+ ATAR, disclosing the subjects you study would also be a great help, since subject difficulties do vary. Getting a 80% in Maths Extension Two is much more difficult than getting a 80% in Visual Arts. Just don't worry too much about this at the moment, focus on putting consistent effort into your studies and may you ace your HSC:)

Perfect answer right here - it should be re-quoted every time this question comes up. It is impossible to go from raw percentages to final marks. At this point, try to focus on doing your best and let the marks sort themselves out. That's all you can do really.
