I was just wondering..
Is it possible to get a band 6 even if your rank is not in the 'band 6 range' of your school based on previous years? Has anyone managed to do that?
For example at my school roughly 40-50 people get a band 6 for english adv and my rank after trials is a 65. If I tried hard enough could I still manage a band 6 or is it a lost cause? I've always been consistently in the top 50 for english but i absolutely flunked one of my assessments so couldn't save my rank.

Depends how everyone else performs in the 65s range. If everyone gets a 90 in that rank range in the HSC and you also get 90 for the HSC. You will get a band 6. If everyone in that range averages a 75 in the HSC. Band 6 is not likely.
