My school is ranked around 400~ And I plan to achieve an atar of 78 to get into the degree I want to get into. I put these into atar calculator and the results weren't pretty at all.
Mathematics: Rank: 4/10 Mark: 60
English Standard: Rank: 1/50 Mark: 75
Business Studies: Rank: 1/8 Mark: 75
Senior Science: Rank: 2/15 Mark: 75
Legal studies: Rank: 1/7 Mark: 72

So far it ain't looking all that well for me. What do you guys think the best way to strategize and what subjects should I focus on to boost me up to achieve the atar I want?

What's really good is that you're 1st in most subjects. This means you will be immune from moderation. Work really hard and you'll definitely achieve your goal of 78.

Keep in mind that the marks you are getting in at school percentage wise are your raw marks. The hsc marks you get are aligned from your raw marks, as well as the fact that different schools have more difficult / easier exams.

Basically your hsc mark is always going to be more than the actual % you get in the exam

Mathematics: Rank: 4/10 Mark: 60
English Standard: Rank: 1/50 Mark: 75
Business Studies: Rank: 1/8 Mark: 75
Senior Science: Rank: 2/15 Mark: 75
Legal studies: Rank: 1/7 Mark: 72

If you were to get this mark % wise in the hsc, your hsc marks would be around

Math - 75-80
Standard english - 75-80
Business - 80-85
Senior science - 75-80 I think
Legal studies - 80-85

But keep in mind, that your school assessments have different standards in difficulty and marking processes

http://rawmarks.info/wiki/Main_Page

Refer to this, raw mark = % you get in the exam. Algined mark = What hsc mark it says you got for that subject when you input into the atar calculator

I hope that clears it up
