Was wondering if copying someone else quotes and themes is considered plagiarism? And is copying some ones structure is plagiarism?

A lot of students will explore similar themes and maybe even the same quotes. As long as you don’t plagiarise the entire essay, I don’t really see an issue and neither should anyone else. A lot of structures for English are really similar.

In conclusion, not really as long as you don’t copy their essay and analysis word for word.

As long as analysis is different, it shouldn’t matter.

My teacher has told my class just using other people's quotes and themes isn't plagiarism, and has even encouraged taking some quotes and analysis (like not extensive analysis, but bits and pieces) out of good exemplars to use in our own essay. As long as it's a huge portion of the essay plagiarised word for word, and the general analysis isn't plagiarised it should be fine
