Just doing a english assignment (finding different texts in relation to Belonging + the visual representation) and my written text is an interview and it is asking about the use of language in the text (written, spoken and visual) to shape particular ideas about Belonging. So is there a difference between language in the text and language techniques?

Is anyone able to help out?? :)

Cheers.

If the text is written then you would have to analyse the techniques used within the language to convey meaning or intention from the composer to the reader/viewer. So in short there is no difference.

The Language used within your text (an Interview) would usually be spoken/dialect. So you would assess the tone of the extract, linked to the diction and register contrasted by the Interviewer and Interviewee. Obviously it would be in a 1st person persepective from the Interviewee, which highlights this persons intimate connection and personal thought to the topic at hand. You could also analyse literary technques used by the interviewee/interviewer (such as metaphor, rhetorical question etc) to further highlight the interviewee's experience/emotions with the topic.

Hope that made some sort of sense for you! ;)
