Is it good to join a club whilst at university (specifically Sydney Uni)? If so, why?

well it can provide a good chance for meeting and socialising with new people, and if you work in an executive position such as president, treasurer etc then it could be good for your job prospects

if you do want to join for the sake of your resume, its best if you join things more relevant to your degree, and failing that some sort of community or sporting group (i.e. don't join a fucking anime club or something) and something where you have a decent chance of getting into a leadership position

with that in mind its best to join clubs early and either only join a few (so you can focus on progression), or join a lot to begin with and get a feel for how they operate etc. and then leave the ones you don't have much of a chance of progressing with

you can join clubs just for the social aspect but just dont put it on your resume if its not flattering and you dont have any demonstrable responsibilities within the club besides buying beer or whatever

I think the social aspects are obvious.

However if you are committed you can get an exec position, and this can be really helpful.

You learn a lot especially at the top of societies.

Yes it is good to join into academic/co-curricular clubs in the university to gain new experience, learning, friends, and sometimes merit.
