If n is odd then consecutive numbers are in the form and note that the little numbers get removed so then as such if we are talking about divisible by n then it becomes the number of consecutive numbers.

if n is even then the sum of consecutive numbers do not divide by n because you are bound to have a certain amount of numbers times n and then you are going to have to add an odd number which does not divide by n because n is even after simplifying the plus-minus 1, 2, 3 etc.

The sum of n consecutive numbers is an arithmetic series with common difference of 1. If a is the first term then the sum is
S = 0.5n(2a + n - 1)

For S to be an integer divisible by n, we require (2a + n - 1) to be even, which implies that an odd n is required.
