I know there is the ubar, and fuck loads of extra things you can do like the law society.

But in the general sense how nice and accepting are macq people? I mean are people generally accepting and genuinely kind?

A better thing is. Is it easy to make friends?

are you asking if people are human

are you the fucking elephant man or what?

Regardless of what university you go to, you will be able to make friends, yes, if they like you. If they don't, then they won't, but they're not going to rape you in an alley just to make sure you know how they feel.

In terms of the general personality of the student population, I wouldn't really know. Of course there are going to be some people who are very welcoming and you'll have lots in common with. Other people on the other hand may not be very approachable. Just like in ANY society. But I'm sure, you cannot stay in a university for a 3-5 years without being able to meet nice people and eventually make friends. As opposed to class and tutes, I suggest you really get involved in student bodies, groups and activities. This is generally the time to make acquaintances and you'll find out you have lots in common with people. but from my experience in enrollment day, there were several nice people who approached me and I made acquaintances real fast with my future classmates. so you shouldn't worry too much :)

Haha its alright. I'm like you as well. Just before enrollment day I was stressing no one would talk to me. But eventually it wasn't the case. It's because I'm a kinda shy person. But just remember to not wait for people to come to you, you should also go to people :)

Thanks. I wasn't the most popular person in school so I am just checking.

Assuming most uni students aren't shallow

Everyone I have met at MQ has been very friendly and nice. During my first week everyone that I approached (usually finding my tut rooms) were more than happy to help me.

Out of curiousity, are your friends in uni close with you, or not as close to you than your high school friends?

How does everyone know my name! Lol

I just am worried that next year it will be hard to make friends as I'm the only one in my school interested doing Eco/law at macq

So long as you put yourself out there and make an effort to talk to people you'll have no worries making friends.

It's a pretty normal question, don't be an asshole.
I was going off of his general trend of not being able to relate to people and not being able to understand really basic functions of behaviour

was a bit harsh though

Ahh powlmao, i do feel a bit the same as you but i like to think of it this way. At uni, you'll be spending time with people with similar interests and intellects, no more of the dumb fags from high school who think you're a 'nerd' etc etc. I haven't been the most popular at hs either, and id say many people feel the same.
Im aiming for BCom at Macq next yr (or possibly eco) so i might see you round. :D

Anna G in da house. How are you, Josh? :)

I'm not concerned about my grade, they'll all end up at uws [srs, majority of my school ends up there]. I just really want friends :(

I haven't really been in touch with my friends from HS, so I'd say they are close.
Oh yeah...most likely that will be me too. Seeing as I hope NO ONE with me...like seriously, no one. haha

So its a new start, fresh opportunity I guess. :)

Exactly! But one thing I must point out, even just through enrollement day, I kind of miss 'those type of people'. You know, kind of noisy, obnoxious at times- sort of people. Sometimes I even want to be singled out as the 'nerd' as opposed to being with a bunch of them, cause deep inside I know they have the same thought capability as I do, in terms of judging and analysing people etc. haha. But oh well, new opportunity to get 'acquainted with my type' :p

Don't worry, you'll soon learn that noisy, obnoxious retards still exist at uni.
