Is B Commerc- Accounting of Macqauire good? I heard a lot of contradictory information on macqaurie U. Some say it is specialised in commerce and accounting and is very good in this area. others say the students doing commerce in Macquarie U are mostly international students from Asia (not being racist, I know a lot of people who are asian international students, they are good people) who cant even speak english properly and therefore a lot of people fail.

So is Macquaire U Commerce living up to its fame? Or should I take law in UWS?! Someone help me please~~~

I go to Macquarie Uni, but I dont major in Accounting. However, I have taken all the 1st year subjects that Accounting students have done so I can give my opinion based on that.

Ive done 3 subjects that are from the Accounting Department so far and what i have found is that most of the time, the lecturer tends to read off the lecture slides and relies on the textbook questions. However, I havent studied at other unis so I cant really say whether Accounting is good at Macquarie. But, it is quite specialised in this uni since a lot of students study it.

I have noticed that a lot of Asian International students tend to major in Accounting and Finance. Yes, they tend to speak in their own language, but I have found that some of them are willing to speak to you in english as well and they can speak it properly.

I have noticed that there are a lot of people that have failed at least one subject and its not necessarily because they cant speak english properly. There are plenty of local students that have failed. As long as you try to attend at least most of your classes and do some study on a regular basis, then its unlikely that you will fail. Its not hard to pass, in my opinion.

Macquarie Uni isn't "very good" in commerce/accounting, it's the 3rd best University in Sydney in the area. That's not because of international students.

That said, I'd do commerce at MQ over law at UWS assuming you want to work in business - I haven't seen anyone in banking interviews from UWS, literally no-one. I've seen a few from MQ.

I do B.Comm-Accounting at Macquarie and it's a solid degree.

I'm a local Aussie student with an Asian background, and I have to say that there are heaps of international Asian students. . . most have probably come through SIBT (the private college on campus). You're right though, a lot can't speak english properly, but then again, some can.

In the end, failing comes down to the individual. . how much effort they have put in during the semester! It shouldn't matter how many other international students there are etc.

If I were you, I'd choose Mac over UWS.

AHAHAHAHAHA! Seriously, the amount of stupid people who want to do law this year is astounding. This kid can hardly string a sentence together, but nonetheless, he wants to do LAW.
