Do you receive the offers through e-mail, or do you have to log into UAC ?

You go to the UAC Site. There, offers are released at 9pm.

The next day you will get a letter of offer in the mail.

iirc, there are 'Accept' and 'Defer' buttons on the UAC offer page. clicking 'accept' takes you to the uni's enrolment site which will then give you further details on accepting and enrolling.

they should do a QTAC and release it at 9am instead of 9pm without prior notice

Just in case you do not receive the offer you want, you can drink and cry all night long. No other real reason really. I remember last year when I received my offer, it said Macquarie offered the offer to me like almost a week before the date offers were in. I really don't know why they release it soo late. I mean all the names of students and what course they go into are in the Daily Telegraph which in some places is released an hour before the offers via uac are released. I know where I will be getting my offer from lol.

Well the fact that we haven’t been able to change our preferences since last week shows that the process already started and by now they know who is getting what offers. I don’t see why they can’t just let us know and get the wait over with!

Also, why is the date so late this year, previous years it was always released around the 16th and 17th of January.

How can the newspaper be aware of where the students are heading before the studnets themselves? I mean shouldn't it be released once the offer has been accepted? what if one student received two offers?

I may be wrong, but I believe they just publish the cut-offs, ie the lowest UAI's that were offered places into the courses. Doesn't really make a difference if the student accepts or declines.

Oh I see, but the accepted offers are also released in the paper right?

the papers publish what everyone has been offered in the main round. after that you have the option of either accepting or declining the offer.
