basically, we have only done our own business choice on marketing and human resource strats. I asked my teacher and she said that I can just make up the rest for my business. For e.g if its on influences: legal regulations such as the WH&S effect my business _____

Is this alright? or should I actually learn a case study for each syllabus dot point for each topic?

I've heard from HSC markers that you can actually make a hypothetical business, though it'd probably be less efficient then actually knowing some.

My teacher says you need to state it. If you say hypothetically you are okay.

But you can't say Qantas does this when it doesn't

My teacher gave a few zero's to people because they faked case studies
Dang, haha. So I guess you are better off knowing actual case studies so you have solid grounds on what to write on.

I know.

I got mine back. Top mark. Fucked up multiple choice though. But he was harsh and ensured no one BS'ed a case study. Someone got 12/100 because of that. She lost 40 marks because she bs'ed a case study

Easier to just use a real business- if it helps, try to find one in an industry you are genuinely interested in (e.g. Apple if you like technology companies, Toyota if you like cars, etc) as it'll make it much easier to remember details which are relevant to syllabus dot points.

This.

Legit. Remembering a case study of a business you like is alot easier

You really think if a marker is reading hundreds of essays, they'll go and check if you drop a line saying Qantas has a 5% staff turnover rate? or only a 2% absenteeism rate?

No, they'll take it for correct and keep going...

But what if you get a marker who does know it?

Better safe than sorry

But don't make exaggerated claims or use a well known business if you are going to bs.

I really liked Seremfiy's advice, so instead of just remembering figures about a business you never interact with or care about, use one that you use and have a real interest in

This. Otherwise you should know your facts.

Yes it is best you do a business you like. Easier

My teacher said that if you get REALLY stuck, you should use a local business (eg. fish and chip shop or something) that doesn't have information readily available in the public domain. For the HSC, the marker won't even be from your area so it's a safe option usually, I would say.

As long as you keep it realistic- e.g. a local fish and chip shop is unlikely to have aging debtors or a high P/E ratio lol.

But how hard is it to say "Smooch Frozen Yoghurt's operations is heavily influenced by technology. Through understanding and undergoing heavy research they were able to purchase 20 established yoghurt making machines in 2010. In effect by 2011 there average output rate had risen by 13%"

I just made that up wouldn't that be fine?
