scan it.

Add the images to a word document

Then turn that into a pdf (with a free converter avaliable from download.com)

if you're having trouble keeping the high-quality when you convert to PDF, email the scanned images to me, and i should be able to help you out.

PDFing things means you don't have to unzip it, and pretty much everyone can read (and not edit) it even if they don't have the original program the document was written in. :)

it would be pretty hard to edit text in a PDF if it's scanned in as an image anyway.
If i'm wrong, someone must show me how.

My academic transcript could look a lot better :p

yeah, but a pdf is easiest....

The idea is too bascially put the files together instead of having a series of images (so zipping it would be pointless)

You could use an OCR to convert the scanned text to editable text, or just photoshop it :D
