If the government seriously thinks they can get away with this, especially since they're not consulting the public about it, then they've got another thing coming.
If you don't want your kids seeing bad stuff on the net, that's the paretns' role, not the government. And it shouldn't be mandatory - that's just stupid. They've got heaps of ISP's and tech gurus objecting to the idea, but they choose to ignore the expert advice.
What's to stop the government putting websites they don't like politically on the blacklist anyway?
There has been a government web filter avaliabe for download for many years, and hardly anyone has downloaded it. And even fewer say they've actually used it after download. Doesn't that send the government a message?
If the government wants to stop child porn, fair enough, but putting up a filter is just turning a blind eye to it. Lets take some proactive action and stop the disgusting child porn at its source.
