Hey,

Just wondering what is the scaling difference between General and Advance. So just say if in General i get 90% and in Advance i get 70%, what is the difference?

There is a big difference in scaling between General and Advanced, but I dont think that the difference is as large as 20 like you have suggested (besides, scaling uses raw marks, not aligned marks).

The unofficial name for 2U - most people say it to differentiate it from General and to make it sound like a higher level of maths (which I guess it is).
Ah okay, now I'm going to say I do Advance maths if anyone asks me :D

As stated, there's a large difference between 2U(my name for Mathematics) and general. If you're choosing between the two as a subject choice, if you enjoy maths and/or are good at it, pick 2U. Otherwise choose general. Don't make the same mistake I did and choose subjects for the scaling.

Beyond difficulty and scaling differences, Advanced Mathematics may be a prerequisite or assumed knowledge for certain uni degrees, so do consider what you want to do in uni and check their prerequisites, assumed/recommended knowledge.

Assuming raw marks, a mark of 70% in advanced will get you a 76-82 aligned mark and hence about 50 scaled mark.

In general 90% will make around 92-96 aligned mark and 76 scaled mark.

Hence general will be a better option.
