A ship is moving with an acceleration that is proportional to its velocity (dv/dt= kv) If its initial velocity is 8m/s and 10 seconds later is 7m/s find:

i) value of k to 3 sig figs and give equation for the velocity of the ship.

t=10, v=7

Firstly, split
dv/dt=kv

so,
dv/v = kdt

integrate them
lnv=kt + C

sub your stuff in
you get C
sub your other stuff in
you get k
