I can't decide between the two, although I've already put down my preferences for eng/science at Sydney Uni. Hoping to get in. Anyway I posted a similar thread in the Sydney Uni engineering sub forum but didin't get a reply.
Whats the main difference apart from these two? I know they are very similar, in temrs of course structure, even at UNSW. Just moving parts, mechanical do thermodynamics whilst mechatronics have more computer/electric subjects.
I am wondering what type of jobs both types of engineers get. I'm sorta thinking mechanical gets more jobs involved with vehicle deisgn (i like automobiles), engines and all sorts of gadgetry whilst mechatronic engineers deal with robots/fancy high tech stuff/ automation of processes, little or no vehicle design, electric motors?! I have no idea...
Oh, and if anyone goes to Sydney, wondering if there are mechatronic engineers in the SAE team? I think that'd be one of the highlights of going to uni XD
