Does everything in a homologous series have the same empirical formula. It's a simple q but I've mindblanked on this. Any help is appreciated

No.
For Alkenes yes because CnH2n so you can cancel out the n and always get CH2
But for the others for example alkanes
Methane CH4 and ethane C2H6 if you cancel out the 2 you get CH3 which is not the same as CH4
I think its because the formula involves addition CnH2n+2
the difference between each is CH2
