hey i'm having large difficulty deciding whether to drop mx2 or not... just wanting to know, approximately what will a 65 raw in mx2 get me scaled, because thats all i seem to be getting around, always in the 60's(past papers i have done)... with the exception of my trial, 50 =(
i'm aiming for a 95 in mx1, 98+ in 2u if i do it. is it worth keeping mx2 or more worthwhile doing 2u and have mx1 as 1 unit?

there's this kid who got 90 in mx2 and he reckons he got 70/120 raw in the external exam.

If you're aiming for 98+ in 2u and 95 in mx1, you should be getting around 90 or high 80s in Mx2. If so, then keep mx2.

My teacher told us that around 70% raw in a trial is worth keeping the subject. Otherwise, your better of doing 2 unit.

Might as well keep everything, no point dropping something after trials.. Just do minimal study on 4u and I guarantee that it will count lol

4u scales very well, so its worth sticking to it unless you are doing very badly.

ie, if you sit down and do a past paper, and have absolutely no idea how to even start 1/2 of the questions, then yea, you might have a problem.

but if you have a relative idea about most things or everything, then a little study and you will be fine.

With respect to the 2004 Extension 2 HSC exam, the raw cut-off mark for band E4 was approx 72/120 (60%).

You'd need to sit that particular exam to know whether that raw mark on that paper is feasible for you or not though.

You can't just look at your school mark.

dude,
i was having a problem with his, cuz i got an average of 70% in internal exams MX1, and my 2u was around 80, i thought it would be better to drop the 3u n destroy 2u in yr 12... but dude, the head of maths atmy skewl told me to go to this women at our office at skewl and she showed me the scaling, and my 70% is worth around 45.5/50 at my skewl. It scales SOOO SOOO SOOO well. You shouldn't drop it. Then again your school rank matters. My skewl is rank about 45 so i duno.
But honestly, it's one of the top ranking subjects (MX1 and MX2) i'd keep it.

Keep it. Remember you're the only kid doing the course, so only your externals count. Just study hard for them.

Raw marks are aligned linearly between band cutoffs. That means in 2004, a 72/120 = 90 and a 120/120 = 100
Which means 104/120 = 96/97

If you got 104/120 in 2004 HSC then you'll probably get a very similar HSC mark this year
Holy sh*t you got 104/120? Wow
