how do i forward emails to another existing email account?

i had a usyd email account before and it didnt forward everything that came through. I think you should still look in the usdy inbox at least once a week during session.
Is there a way we can download the emails directly into something like Outlook? When I added an account to the Outlook Express thing, putting the server as mail.usyd.edu.au and username/pw, it didn't seem to work...... unless there's that actual forwarding thing at the helpdesk site?
