To show the amphiprotic ion HCO3- acting as a base, I wrote the following (incorrect) reaction in my chem exam - for which I lost a mark for.
NaHCO3 + KOH -> NaKCO3 + H2O
I admit that this wasn't the best example to show the HCO3- ion accepting a proton.
Can anyone suggest another reaction
