Hello people . I just found out that i can apply for the "Education Access Scheme" and i am qualified . But where i can actually "apply" for it ?

I when to the Uni Websit
http://www.reg.mq.edu.au/undergrad/admissions/prospectivestudents/alternatepathways/eas.htm
But they said its closed ? i am confused . . . soo i am sitting the HSC this year , so is it too late for me to apply for it ?

Can any one please clear things up for me ? Because this will be "VITAL" to the options i can choose for Uni . Thankyou very much

Applications for 2008 are now closed.

The Educational Access Scheme is not available for mid-year entry but applications for first semester 2009 will open in August 2008.
The uni looks at what uac gives them. You apply through UAC and then uac gives a rating of your circumstances to the university. The university decides on ur placement in your particular course. EAS does not count towards most dentistry and medicine placements.

EAS opens in August and closes in late September 2008.

Ask your careers advisor the the EAS applicaitons booklet, they also need to declare a section in it aswell.

DW, it is hard to get your head around it.

But yeah that's right you've got it! But yeah make sure the school knows in advance if they don't already know about your situation because they will ask the careers advisor or the principal about your situation in the EAS application.

Also prepare any medical certificates, reports, wtnesses, specialist reports, documents, etc so you don't have to deal with it at the last minute, etc. Please speak to your careers advisor first, counsellor, principal or the relevant person at your school about it soon aswell.

Please look at this thread aswell: http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=168506

Unless this pressure is in excess, to the point where it causes serious psychological or mental problems - is this really covered under the EAS?

I don't plan on criticising anyone's claims for EAS - but I honestly think that as a system, it is abused beyond measure. Stress is a part of the HSC, it's a part of life - unless it causes a severe mental condition it should not be used as an excuse for students who don't expect to get direct entry into their first preference to score a few extra points on their UAI.

Once again, I'm not directly referring to anyone on this forum or thread - but I think it needs to be said to anyone considering EAS when they don't need it: leave it to the people who are truly disadvantaged, and who truly deserve it.

If you can get it, then get it. (Obvious) How many more hours would you have to study to gain 5uai? A crap load
