Why are you doing a trial HSC paper if you're doing the HSC in 2010??

d) has no relatiion with a - b
and the first part of d):
as n ---> infinity x_1 gets closer and closer to x_0 which is 1. therefore p ---> 1

But i dont get the secnd part

By the second part, I am assuming that it is the one with I?

I can see what you did. You probably substituted p = 1 and that's why you got 0.

But in this type of question, you are supposed to substitute a number that is very close to 1 such as 0.9999 like I did. And since the n-> infinity, you need to put bloody large number in to the n as well.

So working that part out, I got I = -0.316740133...
