Does the new syllabus that comes in next year affect those who do their HSC in 2010? My teachers have told me that we do the old syllabus for preliminary and next year for the HSC but the way the Board of Studies website is set up it would seem we change to the new syllabus next year.

The new syllabus even affects the 2009 HSC, so yes, it'll definitely affect us in the 2010 HSC, although it won't be so 'new' anymore.

WHAT?? Does that mean Year 12 2010 's syllabus will be different than the current one>.. thats stupid (if its harder)...

But if they are doing that, then shouldn't BOS announce the new syllabus, cuz Year 12 is starting next term!

i dont think that the syllabus will change in 2010... teachers at our school told us that the 2010 year group wont be affected.

Pretty sure its not affectnig the 2010 HSC guys. Unless my teachers are mistaken.

Also can I just ask thestallion, which areas did the new syllabus affect the current hsc?

More intake upon this is required.

From what I heard, the syllabus was changed this year, for the 2009 HSC. Obviously, if it changed for them, it's changed for us as well, so for example, studying a 2008 HSC paper would be pointless for us/this year's HSC group.

This is just recalling from something I heard a little while ago though, so I could easily be wrong.

EDIT: Might have just been for English, take a look at this link - http://community.boredofstudies.org...lish-syllabus-2009-hsc-new-aos-belonging.html

As far as im aware, there's no changes for our (2010) HSC group for any subject other than maybe maths 2unit where there's the introduction of stastics or something. The syllabus for english came into effect this year and will be the same for the 2010 HSC year. For maths 4u it might come into effect 2011 iirc. Overall we have nothing to worry about :)

English got a new theme from this year onwards. (Belonging instead of journeys.)

Maths hasn't changed at all, and wont change for a while yet. (Everyone is waiting to see what is done about the national curriculum.)

i wasn't aware of any major syllabus changes (apart from the new AoS)...

i know the legal studies syllabus is changing a bit, but that won't be in effect until 2011.

there aren't any syllabus changes to my knowledge but exam structures have changed
eg. Geography 2001-2009= 3 extended responses mandatory
Geography 2010+ = 3 essays but only 2 have to be completed.

same with some other subjects so there are exam structure changes but not to the syllabus i am aware.
