if only I could afford it (and have a large enough PSU...)

"12.000 points in 3DMark 2003. A score of over 60.000 in AquaMark 3. Over 60fps in Halo at 1600x1200 and more than 50fps in FarCry with High FSAA and 4tap anisotropic filtering at 1024x768 - these are numbers that will bring tears of joy to PC enthusiasts everywhere. "

Here's a review

hmm... i wonder how this is going to affect the price of the current generation of cards

Don't worry, a week later a better one will always be released.

wouldn't be surprised if this card kicks butt, but also wouldn't be surprised if:

- cost >$1000AUD;
- the final production version would have a cooler that sounds like a vacuum cleaner;
- still suffers from heat and power problems (400+W PSUs only);
- nVidia releases a crappy budget $200 version that doesn't have DirectX9 support;
- ATi releases a card two weeks later that looks nicer, sounds quieter and performs better.

i doubt nvidia will release a version without dx9 support

it will come to australia in around 1.5 months

there is a regular 6800, 12 pipeline, single slot, single power connector, $US299

nah i disagree jm... think bout it, GF2MX, GF4MX and FX5200 were all decent budget cards without the (then) newest DX support... if nVidia follows its old marketing strat, then it will probly release a 6200 (?) with DX8 support (?) for ~AUD$300 (?)...

btw, i dun think USD$300 can be called budget...

the fx5200 was a good budget card...

the gf4mx was also good (i'm using one right now). dispite the lack of pixel shaders

nVidia's FX line of cards was all dx9

i presume this will also happen with the 6xxx line.

besides the low - mid range cards wont be released for another 2-3 months

you saw that the 6800ultra was around 1.5-2x faster than the 9800XT, Ati will have to pull something special to beat it.

also, generally the technology from top cards filter down the line so you would expect that the mid range 6xxx card will be 1.5-2x faster than the 5700

M friend says a 9800XT rips the 6800 Ultra in terms of graphic quality. I seen alot of benchmarks of 6800 Ultra n it ripped 9800 XT in all tests. I think my friend is FULL LAME!

hmm there are rumors that the X800 is going to be faster than the 6800 ultra

however, these top end fights are meaning less, it all boils down to the main stream/low end cards.

i mean nvidia would have sold a billion FX5200 and MX440-8x to OEMs
