Just want to know, what is the effect of omniscient narrator and is the point of view reliable or not and why?

Depends what book it is.

You might have an omniscient narrator who actually isn't omniscient is just acting as such because it's the generally accepted practice of novel writing at the time (see: The French Lieutenant's Woman)

I must get a copy of it. Actually the book that opened my eyes to the possibilities of post-modern writing.
