Is anyone currently doing photonics in the science degree? I'd just like some info on what its like. Is it hard? For a not great/not bad HSC phyics student, would I cope? Also, I've heard there are lots of job opportunities, is this true?

Is it true that in B. Science you dont have to choose a major until second year?

No. A lot of the first year subjects don't overlap, so you will probably be at a disadvantage if you change your major.
