Plus how would you know general, the course is VERY different from 4 unit?

but if he can do 4u with no problems, as he seems to be able to, he can probably do general with no problems, even having not done the work

no , freaking _out
it is actually quite(or totally!!!) different from 4u maths we learnt
but i have seen some hsc general maths stuff and i reckon it is alright
it is just that the maths being studied are different

I would think the biggest problem would be your methods of solving a problem.. your particular ways of answering a question might just confuse a student.

i have a maths question i need help with:

i am currently doing the normal distribution topic (if you have the insight general maths book it is on page 250)

(68% graph i.e. one standard deviation above and below the mean)
What percentage of scores have a z-score:
greater than 1?
less than -1
greater than -1
less than 1

i remember this q...but i dont remember the exact %s

what you need to do is draw up the chart, and then add them up

so, like for 1 sd, you would do say 14+2=16%
-1 you would do 14+2=16%
greater than -1.. 32+32+14+2=84%
less than 1..84%

I just mean for some questions (for example, trigonometry), a 3-unit student may use a formula or method that easily finds the solution, but is one that a General Mathematics student need not learn.. thereby possibly confusing them.

But by all means, the more help the better.

i dunno abt. general maths, but for the other maths- graphic calculators are not allowed to b use in exams.

@ freaking_out - graphic calcs can be used for gen maths (muahahha). it's meant to be a whole of a lot easier for stuff like statistics and bell-shaped data etc. i think. i've never used one but teachers recommend it....
