Hey, In everyone's PM I see predictions of their ATAR, or what their goal ATAR is.
I am wondering how people know what ATAR they are going to get?
Is there some conversion method that nobody bothered to send to me?

Thanks.

You can kinda predict it using school ranks e.g. the average ATAR last year was 70.25, if you're average at a school ranked in the 400s then it is likely that you'll get 70ish. If you're average at a school ranked in the 200s then it is likely that you'll get 85ish. If you're 1st in everything at Ruse then it's likely that you'll get 99.95.

Mmmm..if all those that had 99.95 had that as a prediction..then that would be kinda f***ed up..

My school rank is 169th, Blackwattle. I think I'm on the average of the school while being top 10 out of ~70 of General Maths and closer to the top in IPT 6 out of 17, you reckon a 75 would be a reasonable prediction?

How do I check what my school is ranked?

I go to a public school, I don't want to say which one, but last years year 12 received very few band 6's.
I am well above average, I am top of my year for everything, besides maths.

I have no idea how to predict or even set an aim for my ATAR.

The government has banned posting school rankings publicly but you can still view the 2008 ones.

when i was doing mine i didnt aim for an atar per say, i done what could i get in each subject(realistically, like best case scenario), and other than economics i got either +-1 (i went better than i thought in eco). i then used an atar calculator then saw what i had to improve in to get where i wanted to go.

Be warned, naive people! I was predicted to get 98+ on the 'predict your ATAR' forums, I only got 95.8. If you go to certain consistent selective schools, then yes, accuracy is likely, but anything outside top 100 I'd say is often hard to pick
