For the Preliminary I'm doing:

*Advanced English
*English Ext. 1
*2U Maths
*Maths Extension 1
*Modern History
*Chemistry
*Biology
*Physics/Legal (I didn't get one of my subjects, so they're my backups)

A total of: 14 units

For the HSC I plan to do:

*Advanced English
*English Ext 1
*English Ext 2
*2U Maths
*Maths Ext 1
*Modern History
*Biology
*Chemistry

A total of: 13 units

Is this too much of a workload? Should I probably drop a subject?
(I got recommended for all subjects- shortlisted for extension 2 english)

How are the subjects in general?

Thanks! :)

really depends on how good you are with the subjects you pick. You could spend like an hour on ext 1 maths trying to figure out questions while some freak could spend only 20 minutes. So it really depends on your abilities. From the looks of it, you got some pretty hefty subjects there. I did 14 units in prelim..that was hectic but I had sports, service and other EC stuff. SO ye, if you dont have alot of commitments, its fine.

Hey, yeah, you should just do what you think your capable of. Dont choose so many subjects that you will be doing nothing but school work for the whole year cause that just wont be good. I did 13 units in my prelim year then dropped a unit this year. 12 untis isn't too bad if you have more than that youll have to be prepared to work really hard, especially considering the subjects you've chosen.

Good Luck!

I don't really have many commitments, but I'm thinking of dropping the maths extension unit in year 12, even though i was in the highest advanced class this year.
I'm definitely going to do all my english units because, apart form being in the extension class, i love english and always seem to do well in it.

Hopefully that'll make my workload easier, but i'll test it out next year just to see how it goes.

Thanks for the replies!

If you don't plan to do MX1 in Year 12, why not drop it in Year 11? :)

Try it first, and then see whether or not you should drop it. Ultimately, its up to you ;)
