Hi people,

I am fairly new to this site and am getting the impression that most of the 4-unit people who come on this site go to a private, rather than a public school (no real evidence for this, just an impression). I was just wondering if yous could answer a few questions so I get a good idea of what's going on here.

Firstly, what is the name of your school?

What is the location of your school?

How many people do 4-unit there?

What sort of mark are you expecting in the HSC exam?

The reason I am asking these questions is that I am from a public school (Great Lakes College, Tuncurry [about 3.5 hours north of Sydney on the coast]) where only 3 people do 4-unit (out of about 130 in my year), and I was wondering how much this number increased at private schools.

Cheers,

Billy

It is true that more people in private (and Selective) schools take 4U maths. But that should not really be a problem for you ...

In terms of your question, in 2002 I was at Caringabah (Selective) and we had ~40 4U students ...

Hmm... I find it uneasing that I am the only public school student here (of those who have answered anyway).
I'm going for band E4, but to be honest I'm not sure how hard it is to get. Last year 3 people did 4-unit and 2 got band E3, one E2.

If I had a raw assessment mark of say.... 75%, any ideas as to what mark I'd have to get (/120) in the HSC exam to get into band E4?

We had 72% (8/11) of our students in band E4 last year.

Lots of people from your school catch my bus, I had no idea it was so small.
