Question about choosing related texts (1 Viewer)

Would we need to be able to make implicit and/or explicit links between our related and core text in our essays (regardless of the essay question). So for example, 'Frank Hurley' (core) and 'Platoon' (related) both display the destructive nature of conflict/war. In our essays, would we need to clearly state the similarities between the two texts?

for eg:
in a similar way [insert text] does...
or in contrast...
as long as you can draw links between them

Frame it more generally such as "Discoveries are catalysed by adversity". That will allow you to link much more conceptually

If you're linking by conceptual similarities, you should use your related texts to showcase different perspectives on a concept of discovery, or politics/landscapes/rhetoric/whatever you're studying. This allows your essay to unfold logically, demonstrating your understanding of the complexities of the concepts you have studied.
