'Technique' is just unnecessary.

Don't say technique explicitly, because you are suppose to 'select techniques' and judicially analyse them conceptually, it is a bit like short story writing, show, don't tell

I usually write "the use of ___" or just write the name of the technique
I never actually mention The word "technique" in any of my essays
