Question on ATAR (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, this might be a stupid question but as of now I'm coming 2nd in Ancient History and History Extension respectively. Hypothetically, if I secure my rank at 2nd is there still a possibility to attain a Band 6, despite the fact that my school rank is 300~. Does that mean I have to blitz my exam in order for my internal assessment mark to be anywhere 90?

as long as the highest 2 marks from your school obtain 90 or more, you will get a band 6

Its very possible, many people at my school, which was ranked around 280, got band 6's despite not coming first in a subject (a person coming 9th in 2 unit maths got a band 6).

Yeah, there, at a rank 300 school on average is probably at least or more than two band sixes in ancient, and in extension history too.

You can definitely do it if you study hard.

No, as long as the top mark is above 90 - and the gap between 1st and second is small enough such that when the BOS graphs their little moderation function, the resulting mark is above 90.

Plus the OP has to score a 90+ herself/himself.

My gap from 1st is around 3%. I'm trying to make it smaller. I don't really understand how this moderation works. I'm trying to achieve the highest for the externals for Ancient. But since I'm 2nd, I don't know what I would get internally.

Don't worry about moderation. Just get as high a mark and rank as you can.

That way, your moderated mark won't be as far behind as the 1st placed persons.
