1.Can someone explain to me what is a:

a)Lecture

b)Tutorial

2. What do you do in a lecture, what do you do in a tutorial?

3. Is this a stupid question, or is it normal for now to not know what they are.

Lecture - you sit in a large room, the lecturer stands in front of everyone and talks for about 50mins using slides or PowerPoint presentations to help get ideas across about whatever topic he's covering for that lecture. You listen and take notes and you can usually put your hand up and ask questions if you want the lecturer to explain something again.

Tutorial - you are allocated to a small group of students with a tutor, and you then discuss and go through material that the lecturer was talking about during his/her lecture. The tutor may get the students to do exercises or encourage discussion on the topic to help the students gain a more in-depth understanding, or just to make sure you understood what the lecturer talked about.

It's normal for students not to know what they are if you've never been at uni before.

lectures: a time when you can decide to go bar-ing or stay in the lecture and then whip off to the bar anyway.

tutorials: times when you feel like a complete idiot from not going to the lecture nor completing the set tutorial questions.

exams at uni: learning 12 weeks from scratch during stuvac.
