Questions regarding 3U (1 Viewer)

If you do really badly in 3U in the HSC, like really badly, does it count? Because it would add to 11 units and seeing as the HSC is only 10 units. Does the HSC just count your top subjects or what? I'm extremely confused and new to all this. I've recently dropped 3U because it was stressing me out and I felt it was a waste of time but I'm still curious. Also, how much better does 3U scale in comparison to 2U?

If 3U is by far your weakest subject, then it wont count at all.
In terms of scaling, you have to do reasonably well for the strong scaling to help.
