Quick EBNF question (1 Viewer)

I was looking at this right:

Anyway the interpretation part of the example is confusing me. It says a letter followed by one or more letters or digits. But the option is in repetition symbols meaning 0 or more. So shouldn't it be a letter followed by an 0 or more letters and/or digits?

I'm assuming that if there is an option you have to do it at least once even in repetition brackets but I just want to make sure.

I was just doing 06 multi lol. But yeah that used a railroad diagram, and if that above thing was in a railroad it would be possible to just skip it.
