i always have a ton of maths formulas to remember for exams and i always struggle to remember them all.so do you have any quirky ways of remembering formulas?

this is one my maths teacher told me:

cos(x+y)=cosxcosy+sinxsiny
cos(x-y)=cosxcosy-sinxsiny
sin(x+y)=sinxcosy+cosxsiny
sin(x-y)=sinxcos-cosxsiny

just remember that cos is gay(like and like are pair together) and sin is straight (opposites are paired together)

The fastest way to remember formula is to do like 50 questions for each formula. :)

I am not joking and that's how I memorised my formulas. I basically completed all the questions in Fitzpatick chapter 21. Good luck.

I memorise by placing up posted notes around my room and furiously drilling them into my head painfully.

That's actually pretty good. My Maths teacher advised students to put up their formula papers in the toilet so that they can have a look at it whenever they go to toilet.

I seriously put up the sin , cos , tan table for 0 , 30 , 60 ,90 .

I came into the exam , was doing a past paper the teacher gave me in the morning of the exam and had this speacial question. I did it in the morning and got it right. Come into the exam spent half hour out of the hour and i still got it wrong.

I put tan 35 as tan 30 , because the numbers were similar. And i got it wrong. :hammer:

I just write the formula more then once on a paper. And vice verse them and right them again. But if you ask for a derivation id seriously just look pale.

I don't think you need 0 and 90. Just use your calculator - because they're just 0, 1 or undefined. But you need 45, though. Or you can just remember that 0.707 is sin45/cos45.

do questions and apply them constantly.

you just try to remember little details.
let c = cos

c2x = same.same - sin.sin -> if its cos, then the sign is opposite
c(x-a) = same.same + sin.sin -> opposite sign as to bracket.

s2x = c.same + c.same -> if its sin, opposites are same.

by same = original function (cos or sin)

tan gets abit confusing but just apply it alot and you'll be fine.

everything gets easier in hindsight, last year i dreaded over t values (t = tan x/2) but now its prtty simple

I've never really had trouble remembering maths formulas. Before doing each chapter in a new topic I will write the relevant formula at the top of the page to refer to. And in the week before a test I'll write them all on a piece of paper and just read it each morning and afternoon at the bus stop/train station.

oh you wrote them on your hand did you?

yeah i usually, just do heaps of questions using that maths formula, or keep writing the formula till i remember it & then test myself using the write and check method

Just chuck them on notes and stick them everywhere - especially near the toilet, on the bathroom mirror, on the dinner table... everywhere where you sometimes have nothing better to do than to look at those formulae. :D

I just have a freaky memory for all things numerical; repitition is the key to your memory.

Practice with your parent's credit card ;)

Is'nt it supposed to be
cos(x+y)=cosxcosy-sinxsiny
cos(x-y)=cosxcosy+sinxsiny

I learnt this rule just yesterday! It's brilliant!

How to remeber nine times tables:

Hold your two hands up and lower the finger of the number you want to multiply 9 with!
I no longer use my calcultor. It's practically of no use to me anymore. :)

And what happens when you get past 9x10? To say nothing of the fact that from about Year 4, you should know everything up to and including 12x12. :p
