I do a subject with two people. But I'm second after all the assessments and I think I'm behind by about 5 raw marks. After reading what people have posted, my question is: is there any chance I can beat the guy coming first, as I think the best I would be able to do is equal with him. Cos the way I see it is, say I beat him in the actual hsc, he takes that mark for the school mark and what he gets is his actual mark. I would get my mark and his mark in the hsc.

One more thing, does it matter how far away from 1st I am? Eg say the teacher sends in his mark of 100 to the board, does it matter if he sends in my mark as 90 or 50?

Cheers in advance

He would need to do very poorly in his exam - so poor that you would receive the minimum possible mark as your moderated assessment mark rather than his exam mark.

With regard to your second point, yes, I believe it does matter, because it is the only way of determining the difference between both students.
