Can anyone tell me what raw mark one needed to get band 6 in the 2002 HSC paper? it's just I did it as a practise and I wanted to get an idea of what mark I need out of 120 to get a band 6.

id say we need 110/120 to get band 6 for an average paper... hopefully ill be concentrating enough to minimise the stupid errors n i'll be forced to nut out the hard ones unlike giving up at home...i really wanna get band 6...get in the paper n all!

110/120 is not EASY to get at all!

Last years paper, 95/120 is reasonable for band 6 cutoff?

I don't think so, I think a raw mark closer to about 100/120 will get u at least 90 as an aligned exam mark. I say this because I got anywhere between 95-100/120 in my HSC exam, and I got an aligned mark of 89. But again, this could change this year, depending on performance

edit: coroneos has got the idea

Phew!!! All this talk of 110+ was freaking me out.... I got approx 110 on the paper, but in an exam I would drop marks for silly mistakes and stuff...

I got 106 in my trial, so I'm crossing my fingers for a band 6 in this subject... perhaps I should go study lol.

i made a post of this and ppl told me 95-100 is bout band 6 cut off. 20% of ppl last year got band 6. Do you REALLY think 20% of the state got a mark of 110+ ...I dont think so. I reckon 100 and u'll be sweet 4 a band 6

ONLY 100 / 120!?! cheerin' :p seriously, i thought last years paper was extremely easy... which means they're probably going to beef this years paper with harder/longer/trickier questions. :(

I thought the last question was a bitch though last year... too much algebra... I hate messy questions like that!!! It's so easy to make little mistakes.

There is no set mark that you must get above. It all depends on how the state performs on this particular test. They will then award the top percent a band 6. I'm not sure what percent get band 6, but i think it is 10%. So if the test is easy you might need to get above 110/120, but if it is a hard test you may need only above 90/120
